Aisin generally makes good shit.

Think like Getrag on steroids  (people have pumped over 600HP into a stock getrag 284... which, btw, is a FWD 5-speed transmission!)

Based on your past experience...I'd go with the Dodge.

Oh hell yes, they have been building them longer than anybody.

My guys are hard on the 5500s. Ever seen a mechanic that won't drive a service truck like he stole it, when he isn't paying the bills?

Anyhow, we have a 14 foot enclosed, coverd service body on one, and tow a 16,000 lb load bank trailer with it. So far she hasn't even grunted.

Well if you are going to get the DODGE get it soon. As cummins will no longer be in a dodge before to long. Cummins yanked there contract and they are going to Mercedes Benz power. There already in alot of the Dodge Van's like Sprinter. Rumor is there quieter better on fuel and still make the emissions requirements that are choking everyone elses diesels. Suppose to exceed torque specs of any diesel on the market.

In the Sprinter, they're quiet, and seemed to had more get up & go than the Cummin's powered Sprinters I've driven.

Time for a TopKick!

I know a guy who drives for FedEx and has a Sprinter with the Benz in it. He said it was a nice enough engine, with some decent power. But he had to spend some major coin to put a new tranny in it! He said it had to come from overseas. :dunno:
