I want to be able to park a pickup truck camper in my garage. My garage door is 103" wide, and 118" tall. The campers I see on various manufacturers web pages list an "exterior height" in their specifications, but where is the referrence point for this measurement taken from? For example, one camper I am looking at has a published exterior height of 106", and another one has a published exterior height of 112". My question is, 112" from where? From the ground? How do they know how tall the truck is that the camper is sitting in? Do they assume a two wheel drive truck or a four wheel drive truck?

If anyone has a pickup truck camper that can measure from the truck bed surface of the camper to the top of the camper, that would be great. My truck is 39" from the ground to the floor of the truck bed, but the truck bed would be 3" or so lower with the camper in the truck. So I'm planning on a bed height of 36". A camper could be 82" tall and just fit in my garage.

The slide-ins I have seen are a good 6 feet (or a little more) tall inside. Gotta figure that makes them at least 78-80 inches tall without the truck. :dunno:

Might get some good answers here: http://www.truckcampermagazine.com/

I found the name of the measurement I need. It is called the "truck bed height". Lance publishes this specificatioin, but none of the other manufacturers I've looked at do. I don't think I'm going to be getting a camper into my garage. The garage door is 9' 7" tall, but the truck bed height on a Lance camper varies from 8' 0", to 8' 8". Add that to the 3' high bed of my truck, and it means the top of the lowest Lance camper is 11' high.

Mine was just over 11'

Basement model Adventurer. Basement campers are even taller.

Those suckers are big. Looks like they would act like a huge sail on a windy day.

Personally I would get a pull behind, it a pain in the arse breaking camp just to go to town to get more beer.

Not too bad if your truck is set up properly.

Airbags, and Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks on my HD and life was good, even weighing 12K on four tires!
