Buying the software is the only way that you won't have to remove your ECM.

If you have the 6spd, you can't swap out the TCM because it's in the tranny.

For you to not have to buy a second set, you'd have to pay the "deposit" for the ECM and for the Scan Cable. This route would only make you unplug your ECM once. You would have extra money tied up in it, but only for a short while. Once you are done recording data and have your "new" ECM from Black Bear, then you send your old ECM and the Scan Cable back. Then you get the extra deposits back. This would give you a custom tune, but just not as custom as an in-person tune. This one is $300 plus Scan Cable deposit ($400 for 07+ or $250 for 98-06) plus Core deposit (either $160 or $220, I'm not sure). So yes, you would have and extra $410 to $620 in it, but you'd get that back.

Your last route, which will still make you unplug your ECM once, would be a straight Mail-Order tune. This would be based off of anything you tell Justin that you have (parts) and want the truck to do. Everything else will be based off of other tunes that he has done. This would eliminate the Scan Cable and deposit, but you'd still have the ECM deposit. This one is $200 plus Core deposit (either $160 or $220, I'm not sure).
