That sucks. At least with Dropbox, the images are all still there. They just killed the linking. :(

I can't believe PB thinks that everyone is gonna fork over $400 bucks per year to host a few photos that people link to in build threads etc......

They finally got around to me today and shut me down. Anyone found another place to host yet?

Some of these forums are gonna have to increase their photo storage allowance from now on, cause I'm maxed out on several now

The thing I don't get is that they were never setup to be a "send people a link to your photo galleries" type of place, so I really don't understand why they seem to be freaking out about people remote-linking to images on their site.

I have heard some people claim / theorize that some "big" places have been using Photobucket as a "cheap" CDN.

To me, they should be able to figure out who is using them for hosting images for news stories, running businesses on eBay/Amazon/etc. vs. people who post vacation or build pics and link to the images on forums, etc. :dunno:

After Dropbox cut off the public folder remote-linking, I briefly thought "maybe I should've been using Photobucket, instead." But, now that this has come up... :pfingers: to PB, too.

I'm wondering if they will change their minds on the pricing once a few jump ship.

Some people have claimed that PB has been "hemorrhaging money for years" and that this is a last-ditch effort to save the company before having to fold up shop. :dunno:

I've already let them know I'm not renewing next month when it's due. Already removed most of the "important" stuff from PB

My deal is not that I have any pictures I can't get off of PB. I mean, I don't delete the original copy off my phone or my computers.

But just the years of links that are dead. And I'm a very small fish compared to some guys out there. :nonod:
