Anybody running an oil vapor catch can in their PCV line to keep oil from condensing on the inside of their intake manifolds and coking up the valves and piston tops?

I've seen these engines go over 400K without much of any issue. They reliably run past the 250K mark with little maintenance. Is this really even a problem? Seems like an extensive solution to a non-problem to me.

I'm sure it can't hurt anything.

Wouldn't you say that if it collects any oil at all, it's doing some good? I would, and justify its installation by all the folks swearing by Seafoam. What's that stuff used for? Ah, cleaning oil residue from the inside of the intake manifold! And just how did that crap get in there? Oh, as vapor from the positive crankcase ventilation system! Filter it out BEFORE it gets into the intake.

Neither extensive nor expensive.

I'm Cheap-*ss, doncha know?

To each his own I guess. These engines are designed to function fine as is and seem to do a pretty good job of it. Nothing wrong with mods for the sake of mods.

I neither seek nor demand approval for the mods I do to my own vehicles. If anyone doesn't like them, then PLEASE DO NOT DO THEM. I'm fine with it, and I like seeing what everybody else comes up with, especially those who choose to think outside the box. MOD ON!

I've only seen a few people running them... Usually on engines that are raced/beat to hell on a regular basis :dunno:

If you see a lot of high RPM's, you'll probably notice a fair amount of oil between oil changes... But almost guaranteed less than 1/4 quart unless somethings wrong, I think

I'm with ya. Not hating on the mod at all. Just asking questions. I certainly don't claim to know all. I've seen a LOT of catch cans on racing engines... so there is certainly something to them there.

MOD ON!
