Ok, here's what I know now... I turn the key on and the solonoid doesn't open. Take the solonoid off the truck and hook it to 12v and it opens. Volt meter says less than 1 volt at solonoid wire. I cleaned the ground lugs for the wire harness, hoping for an easy fix, but no such luck.

Check the fuse and connections in the underhood fuse block.
I think it is the 4WS fuse.
You should have close to battery voltage on the pink wire at the solenoid... but the ground may not have "ANY" voltage, because it is controlled by the ECM.

Have you checked the wiring and cleaned the canister, wiring and connections at the rear of the fuel tank yet??

Texas Jim...Pink wire has 12 v at bottom side of fuse block. Fuse is good, and all wiring connections are tight and clean at the solonoid. The solonoid unit is new, and the breather hose and vent are clear, and re-routed to the back of the tranny. The white wire has no reading on the meter, but still getting about 1 v on pink wire at solonoid end. Does the pink wire stop anywhere between the fuse block and the solonoid? I'm about to give in and buy an inspection sticker!!

Check on top of the fuel tank... see if the wire is damaged

The white wire will have no reading until it is commanded "ON" by the ECM...

Texas Jim...thanks for your help...and everyone else that had suggestions...I fixed the problem. I ran a new hot wire to the solonoid and I run it a few times today without a dtc. Thanks again!

... Very good...

When you said there was almost no voltage to the solenoid... I figured it almost had to be in the wiring...

Glad you got it fixed....
