With the load of my new trailer and the Maggie on its way, I have started thinking a lot about my transmission. I want to do what I can to help it live, at least long enough to recover from the SC purchase. For relatively cheap, I can stick a slotted front bumper on my truck like the max tow half tons have and the HDs.

Do you all think it will be a worth while mod? My thoughts are two fold. I figured it would help get the transmission cooler and the intercooler more air.

I don't think the slot would net you much at all. I'd spend the money on the best cooler and position in where it got the best air from the stock bumper.

Any chance of modifying the existing valance for larger openings?

Sure looks like a lot of that rectangular area could be removed for airflow without being too noticeable... or maybe remove the rectangular part altogether and install some black mesh.

Not a bad idea. I'll have to look at that more closely.

The 900's should have a little more room up front, some guy did a write up on a true cool install with a Radix hex.
