Nick, long time, no talk, my brother! I think I will type a novel, for the hell of it.

I know you saw by now that I did not renew my PC account after many, many years of doing so.

Honestly, the price was getting to me. I had actually switched the Harley to Lucas a few years back, but was still getting some Amsoil for everything else. I won't go into detail about that change, but now that Lucas has dropped their MyLucasOil.com direct buy, I might switch the Harley back.

Anyhow, the new truck takes 0w20, which freaks me out. 0w20 was widely used in AK when I was there, and I was able to witness the negative effects when this oil was used at times of the year it should not have been.

My worry is completely unfounded, as I know that these engines are designed to be used with this viscosity, but I cannot get the images out of my mind of those failed cams, and scored cylinders.

So I type this long-winded post, simply because I can, and there are like 4 people on this board that might read it, so what the hell? :synad:

All this to say that I am probably coming back to the fold, so that I can use your Signature 0w20. The cool part is, I also have been using that for gun oil for the last 10 or so years:cool:

I need to make a big purchase, all 3 rigs are coming due, plus the bike, the generators and all the lawn equip need their annual change, and I have depleted all my stock. It took a long time to go through all that Amsoil, man!

Any new incentives for getting back into a PC account?

Hope all is well with you, and yours!

0w20 is a little hard to understand. Mine takes 5w30. Back in the day we grew up on 10w30 and 10w40. I grew up on Valvoline and used it until Nick got me to switch to Amsoil. We always ran a thicker oil in a vehicle with higher mileage. :dunno:

Welcome back, to TMC oh and AMSOIL.

I totally understand. Yes, the prices have increased. But if you look at AMSOIL's price increase as to others, ours didn't go up as much over the same time frame.

As for the 0w-20, I have been using the Signature Series in our 2016 Suburban and it's getting ready to click 100k here in a few more miles. My 2019 Silverado with the 6.2 is getting ready to hit 50k. My used oil analysis are coming back great. This last one shows I could go to 10k oil change if I wanted to, which I might take a sample at 10 and see what it's like. I understand the part of it seems thin. Terry Dyson, who has been in the UOA business for over 45 years, and someone I trust 100% said, stick with it. Now if there was an issue he would let me know. But of all the UOA's he has seen in his time as a tribologist I feel he is more than qualified, not to mention a good friend and he wouldn't steer me wrong. If he had any indication that a 5w-30 would protect better he would have said so.

I'm sure your bikes will love going back to AMSOIL.

AMSOIL makes gun cleaner and lubricant. Not sure if you were aware of it. My customers that use it really like it.
Sorry no incentives for getting back other than if you left before AMSOIL started all the promotions and such, they are nice, like $5 coupon on your birth month, $5 for every $100 you order, your next membership is free if you order over $500 in a calendar year. Now they are offering a free headlamp with orders over $75.

Sorry for getting back to late. I do check here daily but for some reason missed this post. Sorry buddy! :willy:

Nick,
Thank you for all the info! I would be very interested to see your UOA results at 10K!

I will get an order placed, and will also get the filter. I think I will dust off my Apex Lab account and send in a sample when I change at the OLM interval.

Appreciate you

No problem, my 10k UOA will be a while, I don't put but 8k maybe if that on a year. Might be sooner if I take more than my usual trips up to visit mom. I use my Cruze diesel to do most of my AMSOIL account visits since it is better on fuel.

I went with the Signature and the filter :synad:
Nice. Yes, it is expensive but is the best AMSOIL has and my UOA's show it. I know it is a small group out there with their lifters going out even at low mileage. I'm hoping that using Signature Series it will keep our LS engines healthy. So far all the issues I'm seeing with lifters going out, non have been using AMSOIL from what I can tell. I know oil can't fix poor material quality. Thanks GM for going with the lowest bidder. But doing what I can to keep it from happening.

I "heard" that the '24s have a different part number for the lifters. I have not confirmed this.

Let me get up with MS3DALE and see. He would know. I hope they did. I do know when/if mine go, I will be deleting the DFM and converting to E85. Maybe even going with a Pro Charger. It is the least expensive route of super chargers.
