I have to admit, the old truck is running better than it has in awhile. I did a Seafoam treatment, and installed a new distributor gear, and the bitch has a lot more get up and go. It actually feel's like I'm driving a different truck.

Probably felt like you got your own custom tune by Jeff. I'm glad she's all fixed up, it sucks when our trucks don't run right.

Yeah, the damn thing would stumble, and hesitate. I had a feeling it was in the distributor. I changed out the cap and rotor thinking that would fix it. I need to get a pic of the old distributor gear on here. I'm telling you Jarrod, you could actually shave with that fugger.

I haven't seen one that worn out in awhile but I know what you mean. I had an old 350 in a 69 C10 that was pretty worn, timing chain actually slip a tooth. Dis. gear was worn down to nothing, valve guides worn completely out and the valve seats were beat up into the heads. It ran ok until that that timing chain jumped.

 I had a '74 sound like a cannon, when the timing jumped. The damn thing wound up having a miss between 50-60 mph.

Oh the good old days.

Yeah...in the days of carbs and distributors, we could keep them going fairly easy...even when they were wore out and on their last legs.
It was pretty unbelievable how long they would still run, even when they needed some pretty major things done to them.

My 2006 turned on the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT the other day.
Pulled the codes....it was a P0128.
Coolant not hot enough... :dunno: :dunno:

Hell, my old trucks didn't even "HAVE" a check engine light. :D :D
You knew the thermostat was stuck "OPEN" when the temp gauge stayed close to the "COLD" mark and your heater didn't blow hot air. :D :D

:rollin:
