Gonna be moving. We have more vehicles than drivers, and will be moving about 450 miles. I'm going to try to get the 20-26' truck, and would like to tow either the truck (1500 EC 4wd) or the Impala. Anyone have any experience with how the uhaul truck pulls an extra vehicle?

Also, how about fitting everything into a 20' truck? We have 2 couches, recliner, 2 queens, 1 king, and a twin bed, 3 dressers, and a whole lot of crap. It says the 20' works for a 3 bedroom house, and we currently have most of that stuff in a 2 bedroom. The pickup will be able to haul some stuff, and we should have another pickup going with us for whatever else.

Thanks guys!

My parents took a uhaul from Montana to Cali pulling a Ford ranger through the mountains and it did good enough. I would opt for a the 26' just cause I would rather have extra room than be stuffing stuff in every nook and cranny, IMO.

Yeah, the 26' is only $30 more, and I will be reimbursed for it and gas...keeps the pickup from having to haul as much too. Did they use the dolly or the car trailer?

It took a 26' and 2 stock trailer loads when we moved my mom out of her 3 bedroom house a couple years ago. Most of the stuff we hauled in the trailer was tools/shop/outdoor stuff, but the house filled up the 26' truck, though.

If you tow one of them with all wheels on the ground...and it is automatic...
ANY connection to the transmission, (like driveshafts)... will have to be disconnected...

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
Last summer I towed a Grand Prix 200 miles with a U-Haul tow dolly. That thing was AMAZING! I didn't use their truck, but I wouldn't hesitate to take one of those dollies across the country.

When I moved to LA we rented the largest truck they had with a trailer for the car. ( I don't like dollies) and the truck pulled pretty good going over the Grapevine. Last couple of moves we've used Pods. Much easier IMO.

Check U-Hauls website. It would give you recommendations on what would be the best equipment for towing your car. I used a tow dolly behind a 26' when I first moved to Birmingham. I was running 70 and it towed great. I know the truck is to big for a dolly and maybe to long for the U-Haul trailer. But the Impala should be able to be towed with one of them. Being FWD, the Impala would tow great on the dolly if it is in the weight limits for the dolly. I used to be a U-Haul manager, so I am going strictly by memory, but check the website to be safe.
