Well the pay pal payment to the guy got messed up, but I got a new cover and snap ring from a trans. shop and I busted the whole face of the cover off, and I was left with a ring of the bottom of the cover where it made contact and was so corroded it wasn't funny, so then I had to use a drill and a dremel tool to weaken that area, and I beat it, used a punch, chisel, prybar, and drilled some more, and then the FWONKER finally cracked and came out, I have pictures of the corrosion, I about shat my pants when I saw all the corrosion. In the process of removing the top cover I got into the 4th apply piston, so I'm gunna have to wait till monday and run back to the trans. shop and get a new one.

I'll post pics when I get the parts I have switched onto the pin, and I'm gunna change the water pump today too

Ok, here's the pics of the carnage. This better make one hell of a difference for all the trouble it's caused me. But as a side note, this was my grandfathers truck, and he passed away in 01 and it has been sitting ever since, and was only drive maybe once or twice a month tops, so I think the sitting allowed the cover to corrode so badly.

Look at all the oxidation around the snap ring groove:

Good lord! I'm glad the only problem I had with mine was getting the snap ring back in during re-assembly. That truck has probly seen many salty winters, plus the age (its a 96 right?) was a BAD combo for all that corrosion to form. :nonod:

Yep it's a '96, but it hasn't seen a winter since 01, and wasn't driven much in the winters since it was new, but all that sitting sure did a number on it
