Thinking of putting in a couple good deep cycle optimas, any objections?

Reason for deep cycle is the truck may sit for several days or months at a time, and in case of any drain, They can be charged back fully and still put out.

I was also looking at AC delco batteries, but their website sucks balls and doesn`t help you look at all they offer in one chart.... :wtf:

Any other recommendations? :)

Odyssey batteries or Sears Platinum made by Odyssey. We've had too many problems with Optimas. Some died early. Have had problems with cases cracking. Today's Optimas are not the quality of years past. MHO

You may want to consider Marine batteries... they are made for deep cycling...

Why not just install a tender when it sits?

Deep cycle batteries are designed to be seriously discharged and then recharged. Not great for automotive use, but great for that 24 volt trolling motor.

I'd go with a quality battery and use a tender. I would imagine the cold is your biggest enemy up there.

That would be the best solution. That's what I do on my vehicles that sit while I'm gone for weeks at a time

I could use a trickle charger, and I could also just unhook the batteries too. I will see if Odessy are sold here. AS for interstate that will be a hard sell. Back when I worked automotive they were very poor, typically lasting a year then were finished... Maybe they have changed....:dunno:

I still usually find more good reviews about Optimas than bad ones.
