As you may have seen, I purchased the Recon Xtreme Light bar last week, and I am going to get a chance to put it on this weekend. I just wanted to make sure I have this right before I attempt to install and get to frustrated

I just went out and made up a simple/dummy diagram of the 7-pin connector I have on my truck. I am wanting to hard wire it. the light bar comes with a 4-pin connector and then a reverse wire and a wire that needs constant 12v.

Here is the diagram I made up.. It should be noted that these are not the actual wire colors, just made it different colors so you could tell which wire I would eventually hook up to.

In the Pic is the 4-pin harness they supply, and a drawling of my 7-pin. Diagram for mine came from the cover on the 7-pin connector.

SO my question is... Is this correct :dunno:

I'm not the best when it comes to wiring a truck, so if this is wrong, could you please correct me.

Instead of downloading I guess I can copy/paste important text

From install guide

From the Supplemental install

First connect the flat four and reverse wire as stated in the
included instruction manual then follow the supplemental
instructions below:

The remaining RED wire needs to be connected to a ‘hot’ 12V
power source. Most late model trucks have a hot wire located in
the 7 pin trailer connector where you can splice the RED wire
into. If your truck doesn’t have a 7 pin trailer connector, you can
connect the RED wire to any “hot” 12V power source located
on the truck.

It appears to be correct. You might look around behind your bumper, you may have a 4 pin connector just tucked up behind there. I know my work truck ('10 F350) has both a 4 pin flat and a 7 pin round in the plug mount on the hitch. Otherwise, you could possibly buy one of the splice kits that just plugs into the stock harness so that you don't have to cut wires. Just a thought.

I actually have a 4-pin converter that I bought when I had to get it for a U-Haul, but I would rather not have something plugged into my harness all the time. Rather have a cleaner looking install

But I guess I never did look and see if a 4-pin was tucked up under the bumper.. may have to look into that tho..

I wouldn't recommend using a converter as a full-time solution either. If you want to add a 4 pin (assuming you don't have one somewhere up there) you can buy the adapters that hook into the factory harness under the truck and give you a 4-pin output. Something like this:
