Never been Ford guy.

Never really had anything against them, just never really went there.

My company car Ford Explorer now has 160,000 miles on it. I still get over 20 MPG out of every tank and it uses no oil between 5000 mile changes. It still drives very well too. You'd swear it was a 40K vehicle if you didn't look at the odometer.

Repairs have been 1 alternator, 2 lower front ball joints, shocks, new front brake rotors, bearings, and pads, and a trans rebuild at about 140K. Otherwise purely maintenance items (brakes & shocks should probably be included as maintenance and not repairs).

Pretty darn good, I'd say. I'm hoping for another 100K.

My buddy has an Exploder. A '95 I believe. For how he treats that thing, it's held up pretty damn well.

A buddy of mine had one for awhile and never had any problems with it. I never really had anything against Fords either. I grew up around GM vehicles and had no reason to stray from the brand.

Nice Explorer. My first car was a 2002 Sport model, Not a bad vehicle but a 2dr SUV isn't very useful. My girlfriends mom has a tan '98 XLT and she herself has a 03 - '05 dark green one.
