I have been adding a bottle of the Amsoil PI to my fuel tank at every oil change for a few years now.
I recently started getting a CEL for the knock sensors. I reset it and the code would come back a day or two later. I was dreading changing the knock sensors, but I was getting ready to order new knock sensors from Rock auto. Then I added a bottle of PI to my gas tank, part of my normal maintenance. And I reset the CEL around the same time. (Since I have a code reader, I just keep resetting it because I hate seeing it lit up on my cluster:lol: ) I was surprised several days later when the code had not returned. I was like WTF? :wtf: Then I thought back and remembered that I added a bottle of PI the day before I reset the CEL, and then I realized that the PI must have done something to make the engine run smoother so that the knock sensors are not triggered. Its been well over a month now and the knock sensor code has not returned .

So if you ever get a knock sensor code, I would HIGHLY recommend you try a bottle of PI before diving in and replacing the knock sensors. And I would also like to thank Nick for getting me hooked on this stuff. He sent me a free bottle of it years ago and once I tried it I was hooked when I realized how much it actually improved the performance of my engine, and my fuel mileage as well.

I put two bottles of it in my truck at my last oil change. I have a 34 gallon tank and one bottle only treats 20 gallons. I've noticed a mile or two per gallon improvement per tank as well.

Thanks for the info Scotty and you as well Jeff. AMSOIL's P.I. is a really good fuel system cleaner. I have had several customers use it with great results in getting better fuel economy as well as a small performance/smoother running engine.

Most find that their fuel economy increases during the next tank full. It is good to run at every oil change, basically right before you change your oil run a tank full through. That way what ever it cleans up and might get down into the oil, it will be drained out when you change your oil.

Jeff, I usually just fill my tank halfway when I add a bottle, because I have a 30 gallon tank. And then I don't add any more fuel until I get to basically empty.
And Nick, thanks for the tip about adding it BEFORE each oil change. I usually do it at the same time. But I can definitely attest to it making the engine run smoother. It runs so much smoother that the knock sensors aren't sensing any knocks anymore to trigger the sensors.
I really wasn't expecting that, but I am so glad it did help because I was honestly not looking forward to pulling the intake and replacing the sensors.
I'm glad I happened to add that to my gas tank BEFORE I bought new knock sensors.

AMSOIL should rebrand this as AMSOIL Magnum P.I.

Well, its been almost 2 years, but now my knock sensor code is popping up again. I'm guessing it's time to replace the knock sensors. But I will still swear by the Amsoil PI though. It's awesome stuff.

Seafoam the whore, make sure she's carbon free... Then change your oil and plugs... Last ditch move before sensors, lol.

The PI worked wonders on my ATV and motorcycle
