My first experience with a motor vehicle was when I was 13 years old, and my father bought a new 1973 CJ-5 with a factory 304 V8. I learned to drive in that Jeep. I bought my first Jeep, a 1961 CJ-5 when I was 14 years old. It was in rough shape, and I learned how to work on vehicles with that Jeep. By the time I was 16 years old and had a driver's license the Jeep was in good enough shape to be driven. I've owned a Jeep ever since. Several years ago, I bought my own 1973 CJ-5. Here is my '73 Jeep CJ-5 that has had a complete frame off restoration. It has a new (not rebuilt) 304 V8 long block, and the rest of the drivetrain has been completely restored.
