I recently added an Access Low-Pro bed cover to my truck. For the last several days, we've been getting a LOT of rain, here in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. Of course, I haven't sat at home the whole time. So, the cover has gotten drenched a few times, over the last week or so.

A few days ago, I started noticing that my garage had kind of a "musty" smell to it that I hadn't noticed, prior to the bed cover install. It actually even seemed more humid than normal in there. I lowered the tailgate, to let air circulate around the cover better and the the smell seems a lot less prominent.

Have other people had this problem with the soft roll-up covers or do I need to do something to this one to de-musty-fy mine?? :dunno:

Thanks!

In all seriousness, I had several soft covers on my RCSB and never had a problem with any musty smell. Could it just be the new plastic/vinyl smell?

My Access cover smelled funny after carwashes but it dried out after a day or two. I had the Lorado cover.

No, this is definitely musty and not plastic / vinyl. The garage has even seemed more humid than normal, like something in there had soaked up some water. I've checked the ceiling, walls, and everything else I can think of for leaks... Nothing. That's what led me to the cover and dropping the tailgate. Within hours of doing that, the garage seemed a little less humid and the smell was dissipating some.. :dunno:

I was just wondering if this was "normal."

Thanks! I'll keep a check on it, the next time we get much rain...

It probably didn't help matters that the 2nd day that we got a "lot" of rain, I pulled the truck out in the driveway and let the rain give me a "free car wash." I didn't think about the cover absorbing water, though.. :dunno:

The Access cover I had definitely had an odor after the rain but it went away shortly after.

Alright, cool. If we return to normal weather patterns, then I'll probably not notice it again!

Typically, we don't get 7 out of 8 days of "measurable precipitation" (as the weatherman put it, earlier) around here..

Alright, cool! Thanks for the input, guys!

FOr the record Michael, I was very impressed with the Lorado cover's quality. Access makes really good stuff.

Yeah, overall, I like the cover. I kind of wish it sealed better at the front of the bed. I've been thinking about adding something to try to keep air from getting under the cover, right behind the cab of the truck... With the air getting in at the front, the velcro can start working loose at higher .. uhmmm... speeds. :D

Aside from that and the recent musty smell, I like it.

I hadn't even thought about it until right now, but I'm glad I bought this house, where I can actually have the truck in the garage, with the tailgate down, and still have room to move around. This would've been a pain or an annoyance with one of those "barely big enough" garages.
