I have been going through ideas and have a couple questions for anyone that might know.

Like stated in another thread I just installed Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers on my 6.0. I was hoping I was going to be able to install the stock cats in the Y pipe that came with the headers, but it was not possible. So, I installed the headers without cats for the time being (had to cut the old exhaust off and I was an hour and half from home). I am not up for inspection until April so I have some time to make a permanent plan.

I'm thinking this...

Buying a set of aftermarket high flow cats, coming from them into a dual in single out magnaflow then running a tailpipe back over that rear end. I would keep the exhaust hidden.

I'm going to have Justin tune out the rear O2 sensors while I don't have the converters. Is there any advantage for me to turn them back on when I put cats on it. If so, does anyone make a pigtail to give me more length or cut/splice? If not, can I just unplug them and remove them?

Scott, Tobias, and anyone else with a magnaflow do you have any regrets with the choice?

Not one regret and that's why I have the same one on both rides.

The classy mellow sound is exactly what I had hoped for.

The 6.0 is a droning mutha.

I went with a resonator muffler, and the Magnaflow muffler to prevent the drone (I wll have to look up the part number in that thread of mine) and now nearly 4 years later, and I am still pleased.

It was a bit quiet that first year, but not too quiet. With the tune and the intake, there was plenty of sound. The only thing missing...long tubes.

If I had to do it all over again, I would change nothing in my exhaust choice, except going the route you did. Headers first. Since you pull your trailer, think about resonators. Now that I thoroughly burned them in pulling heavy loads, they are louder, but still zero drone.

Keep the cats. Exhaust stinks to high hell without them.

I've been told there's no real advantage to the "high flow" cats. But I believe without your rear sensors reporting, you can't pass emissions in some states? So you may have to have them.

I love my Magnaflow.

I agree with Zem to keep the cats. Unless you enjoy the smell of the exhaust and can run 114 octane all the time. :)

As for the O2 sensors, not sure on that one, but you may as well have them turned back on if you run green cats. At least that way you can tell if when one of them starts to go bad and can catch it before any other issues arise. I think some of the companies that you get the cats from have O2's with extended wires, at least that is what I have read on the Camaro5 forum when they switch out to LT and cats.

Yeah, I'm definitely going back with cats. Removing them was only meant to be a temporary solution. Now it's just a decision process of what is going to go behind the headers.

If I put the rear O2 sensors back in, there is no way they will reach downstream of the cats with the current pigtail. So, I'll either have to have it lengthened or take the off completely.

When we put the ARh headers on my sons truck we had to extend the rear pigtails.

So what are you putting behind the YPipe?

I am thinking the cats will bolt basically directly to the collectors and then coming in to a dual in muffler to replace an actual Y pipe.

Thought?

I gave you my thoughts. :)
After riding in my buddy's Max with a single Magnaflow, I say hell no.
Pulling a trailer makes the drone so bad it resonates off the fillings in your teeth
