The Excursion may well be my favorite Ford of all time.

When the Excursion first hit the street I was contracted to do three of them with full audio/video setups for a Texas oil company owner who's father was a sales guy at a local dealership. After driving all three of them from the dealership and delivering them back I told myself "I gotta get one of these". In 2004 I got my chance to pick one up at a crazy price. It has been to the top of Mt. Evans (14,270 ft) and anywhere else I have decided to venture. Never been stuck and I've pushed it to it's limits. I will run it till it dies and if I can't fix it I'll get another one.

Sweet!

The Excursion was available with a diesel which was a good move. I wish GM would put one in the suburban.

I had a choice for about $1700 more to go with a diesel version. Cant remember it was a 6.0 or the 7.3 but I opted for the V10. I didn't want to deal with diesel with the sound, smell and finding gas stations. Its a demo vehicle for my business and I work out of it on-site all over the city.

Originally my wife was driving a customized 2000 Honda CR-V but we realized with all her family she needed something with more seats so I got her the Expedition and took the Honda. It didn't take long before I was outgrowing the Honda and a deal came along for the Excursion. It was four years old with 42,000 miles and they went $17,500 on it. The Honda was paid off and they gave me $10,500 for it. $7000 for a fully loaded 4x4 Excursion was too much to pass up. Within about nine months I had it paid off. Practically doubled the size of vehicle and tripled the fuel tank but also cut the MPG by half. I miss the little guy but i just couldn't work out of it. The Yakima Mega Load Warrior rack is great for me to load all the step bars or trailer hitches I install. And when this big boy pulls up to your house you know I mean business. And with either my triple 15s or sometimes my dual 12s in the back it will blow your hat off your head. Got the cracked windshield to prove it.
