Power Ratings For Mahindra TR Series Pickups Released


I had no idea they were venturing into pickup trucks. Strange looking little truck.

Global Vehicles U.S.A., the U.S. distributor for India's Mahindra & Mahindra, has released final power figures for the new 2010 TR20 regular cab and TR40 crew cab midsize diesel pickups. The TR Series' four-cylinder 2.2-liter mHawk turbodiesel engine will crank out 140 horsepower and 236 lbs.-ft. of torque.
The output numbers appeared in a downloadable brochure that also touts Mahindra's pickup as "The Biggest Little Truck In The World," with a payload rating of up to 2,765 pounds, up to 30 mpg highway fuel economy and a four-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.

My boss showed me that a few months ago. He said he's all game for a small deisel truck with a lot of torque. Thing is, the rating werent out when he was telling me about this lil truck. He also told me that Jeep makes a small deisel thats sold overseas, but will most likely never make it here due to all the emissions.

I think the emissions will keep a lot of them out of the US markets. Europe and Asia run a ton of diesel vehicles but the smog is terrible too. Some of the European countries do have their stuff together but a lot of the emerging countries are just going wild with no regards for pollution. I'm no greeny but it's pretty bad in places.

Yeah it looks like they have I just don't recall seeing one. That look is familiar though.

Those would make great little delivery vehicles / parts runners. I'm not sure what other real truck purposes they might serve though. They could make really cool golf carts, I suppose.

Not going to be cheap. You have to wonder how/why they believe an ugly dumpling truck will sell with all of the other choices already here.

I agree but I'm sure Toyota had the same thoughts a few years ago.
