As some of you may remember, my 2007 Ram MegaCab was involved in a vehicular altercation in early January.
After a month in the body shop it was returned to me and I was happy to have it back.
Then stuff started to break and the truck started giving indications of other problems that would prove to be expensive.
After replacing two failed sensors, three plastic harnesses connectors, listening to the powertrain whine and feeling the steering continue to hunt for center (with a catch in a right turn rotation), the last straw happened last Tuesday.
The truck sort of stalled, stumbled and then all the dash panel lights started blinking, warning chimes bonged and the truck went dead. I got it running but it was in limp mode and we slowly made our way back home at 30 mph.
So, I found the problem and fixed it (cracked, dirty and slightly wet main harness connection to the PCM) and decided it was time to turn it over on another truck.
I did some online searching and came across this:
A leftover 2014 Dodge Ram 2500, 6.4L HEMI, crew cab, Big Horn option package, black appearance package.
Actually, I found two almost exactly the same and decided to go with the one on my local dealer's lot. I've done business with them for quite some time and the Ram proved to be the 6th vehicle I have purchased from them.
After doing the deal, I left it with them to swap over my wheels and tires from the MegaCab and to install some step bars.
I took delivery this Saturday.
First impressions:
Very comfortable, loaded with all kinds of electronic gizmos I'll have to learn (I think this truck is smarter than me), the 6.4L HEMI makes great power and overall this is a very nice, well sorted, truck.
I do miss the MegaCab, though. It was such a good truck and it served me well.
