Hey guys-

Instead of making different threads about my suv I've decided to create one build thread. Until I can buy a daily driver ( the jetta). I want to make a couple of mods to my current suv. :(:loser:I wish I had taken an auto class in high school so I know what all the bells and whistles mean.

Moving on.. It looks like I am going to need to know how to change the seat covers in my suv since the leather is tearing and I might think about going to cloth instead. What would you guys recommend though?

I will take photos of the two seats covers I want to replace and can you tell me if they are bucket seats or bench. I'm thinking more along the lines of bucket since it has a center consule.

Thanks!

This photo is not of my seats but it is similar to the ones in my blue bomb. When I get home I will add mine so you can see the tears in the seats.

There's a few ways to go about this.

You can purchase used seats in better condition than yours and swap the whole things. Usually there are only 4 bolts holding in a seat, maybe a plug or two underneath for airbag sensors or whatnot. Done it in my Miata, pretty easy.

You can buy new upholstery and replace it yourself. I can be a bit of work wrestling the old ones off an new ones on. Most likely, you'll want to take the seats out (possibly take them apart too) to do the work.

You can buy covers that slip over the seats and current upholstery. IMHO, the more you spend, the better they'll fit. My brother had a set of WetOkole in his Jeep many years ago, like a wetsuit for your seats. Pricey, but pretty nice. Not sure how they hold up long term.

Pay someone else to do it all for you :D
