Agreed, but, in the city with plenty of cell coverage everywhere, the chances of it not starting seem low. If you had a two-way kit already and were just adding the module, this shouldn't be an issue, I'd think.

I'm thinking the same way... if you buy a 2-way system like the 5301, then the App should act like the 5301 remote & receive a signal back.

You could get a 5101 & the SmartStart for only 508 :uhoh:

This basica idea has been around for several years now many car alarm manufacturers have the technology to do this same thing from any phone. You call a 1-800 number and follow the voice promts and press in certain codes to operate your car. This viper app is just a step above, and MUCH more user friendly. I have a two way autopage remote start on mine, and I rarely have situatons where I'm out of range so I'm good.

Not from 10 miles away you won't.

Imagine a hot Summer's day and you are with a friend and your truck has been sitting out in the heat all day long, the hot FLORIDA sun. You can turn it on from anywhere at any time and have the AC nice and cool when you get there!

How can you pass that up? :jester:

i have a 2 way remote start and i use it all the time. i wake up in the morning and i have a garage door opener by my bed, so i open the garage and hit the remote start, when the garage is heated i dont have to but it wont be for a couple months yet.

also i use it at work cause i have a sticky lifter and then after the oil gets cycled through for about a min its fine plus its warm
