Start your vehicle from virtually anywhere.

"Now you can remote start or lock and unlock your car just by pushing a button on your iPhone or iPod Touch; using the exciting new Viper SmartStart app from Directed Electronics"

    Pricey, but an awesome technology!

I saw this yesterday. I wanted to get a remote start setup for the Tahoe anyway!

My only question is whether or not the $499 kit also comes with remotes. I can't find any actual data on that.

I don't want to have to use my phone, I just want to have the option.

If anyone has a Viper system already, you can add this to many pre-existing kits.

BTW, the first year is free but each year after that the data plan for this is $29.99 annually.

This would also be cool on the Jetta during the hot summer and cold winter months since we park in a parking garage that's not within range of most standard remote systems. It's only a couple hundred yards away but there are buildings in the way.

If not, buy the $299 system & get a security/remote-start system that comes with remotes

Reading more about it, the App is a nice concept, but doesn't have 2-way notification (doesn't notify you if you started your vehicle or if you locked/unlocked your doors).

Almost seems like an entry-level attempt to get this on the market before the colder weather.

Agreed, but then we're talkin' $600+

I'm just hoping the $500 kit has it all, HOPING. :D
