Do think the thought GM engineers had for the motor to transmission struts was to control flex between the two ...

A lot of discussion on the use of these so called torque rods ..
I can't see them moving around enough to hit the oil filter or the pan ..

But I will keep a eye on em ..

I'm still working on the rod that ties the NP203 transfer case to the trans bell housing ..
Acquired a Oem rod that came off of a 4X4 truck running a THM350 trans ..
With what my gig has going on it's getting extended bout 6 inches ..

Most likely these rods would be considered overkill, but GM did put them on for a good reason I suppose ??
So they could charge more. :rollin:

Hit a lick on getting the A/C compressor mounted ..

Had to do some work to the power steering pump adjustment bracket ..
It needed to be mounted flush on the header in order for the A/C compressor bracket to bolt up ..

Made a extension to weld in the middle of the Oem power steering pump bracket ...

Didn't get to finish it today ... Do think it's going to workout okay .. ?
Tomorrow I'm hoping to see the compressor mounted ..
Got some fab work to do cause of the cam gear drive I'm running moved the pullies out a 1/4" ..
We'll see what can of worms that's going to cerate ??

With all the issues you've encountered on this build, you're definitely going to have a fabricated build.

Kind of had the same thought ...

The compressor is now installed ..

The aftermarket compressor bracket needed some fine tuning ..

Little grinding got it off the header & power steering bracket ...
With the Milodon cam gear drive moving the pullies out a 1/4" caused for some adjustment to the A/M compressor mount ..

Took a 1/4" off the rear and added a 1/4" spacer on the front in order to see good belt tracking ..

Hadn't got around to getting the belt on just yet, eyeballing the pullies looks really good ..
Hope to have the belt installed by the end of the day ..

Along with a new aluminum water pump ..

Might even have the new radiator installed, but I doubt it cause it needs the lower outlet moved to the other side ...

Be some work to make that happen ..

Belt won't be on for a few days ..
The pulleys that's on the motor will not work ...
Needed double groove for the water and power steering pumps ..
Got them on order ..

Oh well ... Part of it. I guess .... Can't get in a no hurry building a Frankenstein ...

Really nice build. Your going to love the vintage air. I have it in my 1979, black, on , black Corvette, and I live in South Louisiana. It gets hot, down here. The vintage air, does a grate job. As for my truck, it's a 97, OBS Chevy, and it still has the OE system in place. I think it has a sanden AC compressor.
