I hope it's better than the Inspiron desktop I bought a while back. I felt like shooting that thing.........
Fingers crossed. I could not pass up the deal they offered. Got the ultra light one without the DVD, with the backlit keyboard, video card and hi-res screen. Not the Ultra HD like the XPS option, but the HD standard screen
I could not find a difference between it and the XPS (spec wise). I am sure the chassis has differences. Anyhow, with the Memorial Day sale; I added the software I wanted, the slim BR/DVD USB writer, and the easy transfer cable. Still came in at half the XPS.
Yeah, I tried to spec out an XPS 15 with an SSD and those seem to only come with the 4K touch screen, which I don't really want to pay a lot extra for (and they do charge a good bit extra for). I found cheaper models that come with a spinning that could be replaced. But, that seems like a lot of hassle just to get a Dell XPS. So, I've been checking out Lenovo and other brands.
Just when I thought UPS could not get any worse...
Dell uses "UPS Postal support" to ship laptops.
What does this mean? While I have no clue, really, I do know that it means your estimated arrival date changes AT LEAST twice a day. I need to start taking screen shots. It has changed at least 12 times. At first, it was to arrive today. Now, it has changed to next Friday. I had all the days of the week for next week, but today it finally settled on next Friday.
Ridiculous. The damn thing left CA on Tues.
Yeah, the screen seems to be the big price adder. Regular ol' HD will have to suffice.
I would not get a Lenovo, if I had to get something else. We have had miserable luck with them at work. I would probably go Sony again, if I had to choose something else.
Good to know! Thanks for the info.
I should expand on this.
I have a T450, and have has 2 hard drive failures.
One of my guys has the T460, and it has had 2 MB failures, and one "multicard" failure. I guess that is for the USB, etc. Then, it had a screen failure, and they replaced the entire machine. A new 460 shows up, and I was standing there when he turned it on.
Blue Screen. MB failure on day ONE.
We use all Dell desktops, and all Lenovo laptops. I have no clue why.
We may change, there have been quite a few complaints.
Looking around the web, though, they get great reviews. I guess we are just lucky
Maybe I should look at iStuff instead?
Conner's Dell laptop, can't remember which one it is right at the moment, has had two MB failures in the past 8 months. Good thing we paid for the in home warranty service. If it kills another MB, I'm asking for a new one.
We got it for her for college June of last year. $2,800 worth of laptop.
