6 years is a pretty good lifespan for a laptop.

My Dell XPS 15 laptop I bought in 2011 is still running great, but it's starting to feel thick / heavy / bulky compared to more modern laptops. I hate to replace something that's working, but I'm kinda thinking a newer, thinner XPS laptop may be in my near future.. :dunno:

If I used this thing on some type of desk, I doubt I would be wanting to update it with something thinner and lighter. But, 99% of the time, this thing is laying on a pillow on my lap, while I'm watching TV on the couch. After a while, the weight of it wanting to tilt back (because of the screen) and the pressure on my wrists (to keep it flat) start conflicting with one another. I have a tough time spending $$ to replace something that's working, though. :dunno:

Mine actually doesn't weigh all that much. One advantage of a 12" screen. It sat unused for about 4 years, then I used it every day for 6 months during my job search. Now that I have a work computer, I haven't even touched it. I'm not too sure where it actually is...

I hardly ever use my desktop anymore, now that I work in the office. "Maybe" 30 minutes per day, if that. MOST of my time is now spent on the 15" laptop.
