Most of you have seen the photos of my enclosed trailer that I bought in 2008. Over the years I have been through many sets of tires and in 2010 I replaced the bearings, packed them and replaced the races.

It's about that time to do it again. Three out of the four wheels have a little whobble to them and I need to replace them. Before I do all this again I would like to address a issue that seems to be getting worse. I noticed that 1 or 2 of the wheels sit crooked as if from over time the have been feeling the weight or at one time the load was too much for the trailer.

My questions is should I go about replacing the hub & spindle to correct the crooked rum or should I be looking at a axle replacement. I believe it the be the hub & spindle but I could be wrong.

Here are some pictures of each side as well as from the front view and back.

It is the front rim that is sitting funny...

It's really just that one wheel that seems to be the problem. I am thinking that a new hub and spindle would fix the issue but tell me what you think.

Not sure exactly how that axle is configured, but I've seen a lot of them bent from being overloaded.

It's axle time. They aren't that expensive, and you get everything in a kit, hubs springs and all. I did it to my car hauler.

Brian, there is a place in Goldsboro, Dean's Wheel Alignment, they work on trailers all the time and even straighten them when needed. I would think an axle replacement would be the way to go but maybe a less expensive fix would be to straighten it. In any case they would be the ones to talk to about it since they work on them all the time. They have been in business over 45 yrs and is where I go for all my alignment needs.

Awesome, I will add them to my list in search of a axle!

Are these torsion axles or spring hung axles? I've seen the torsion axle wear out the rubber and have the spindles sag.

Or if it's spring hung axles, you most likely have a bent axle. If you replace the axles, consider upgrading the capacity of your axles.

They are spring hung... Yeah I will be looking around for bigger axles. Its seeding and aerating season that did it in. All the usual equipment plus 2 core aerators, slit seeder, spreaders, seed and fert.

You could also have a bent spring or a broken leaf in your spring pack. That will cause one side to sag and it looks like the tire is tilted. Just one more thing to check.

That was the first thing I checked. Has to replace 2 spring packs on the equipment trailer 2 months ago. Uggh!
