GM Recalling 1.5M Vehicles Over Fire Concerns

Just heard this on CSNBC.

Did I miss something. I thought this was already known.

 

Glad they got the issue resolved though . . .

 

Actually fairly old news. The heated washer fluid got pulled off the assembly line for most 2009 models. I guess there are a number of people who didn't bother going in when they got their recall notices.

Darin said it was people who had ignored the recall. What prompted this recall was issues (fires) with vehicles that had been "fixed." The previous recall added an in-line fuse (I know, because I had it done on my Sierra). This recall will completely disable the system, since the in-line fuse apparently didn't really "fix" the problem (or at least didn't keep things from overheating and causing a fire)..

 

Heated wiper fluid should be the temperature of plasma and instantly incinerate anything it touches.

 

Well, if it burns up the whole vehicle, there's nothing for the fluid to wash, right??
