Hey fellas.

I have the infamous GM lifter noise/tick now which I assume is the AFM lifter issue others have mentioned. The noise went from nonexistent to occasional to the point where it does it the entire time the engine is running (started that this week). So I figured it was time to set an appointment to get it checked out. When I scheduled the appointment, the service advisor asked when the last time was that I changed the oil and how many miles it has been. (3 months/4000 miles...running Mobil1). I thought that was an odd question. Im old school and still check the oil each time I fill up and the truck doesn't burn a drop of oil.

What do you think he is fishing for with that question?

I go in tomorrow morning at 7:30 so we'll see how it goes. While I'm there, I'm going to have them look at the fan motor for the heat as well. The motor chirps like a bird when its on low and the temps are below 30. :dunno:

I don't think he meant anything too bad. If you had said "I dunno" they would be charging you for the lifters they are about to put it.

I had mine done on the blue truck at 20,000, and they asked me the same question.

They even took an oil sample.

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the info Scott.

Yeah I remember that you had yours done in your last truck. I'm looking forward to getting the updated lifters put in it. I was caught off guard by the question more than anything.

I'll keep you posted.
