My trucks fuel gauge wasn`t super accurate from day one and has slowly gotten worse, i could go 150-200kms without it moving, it would slowly go to half then drop like a rock. today the level was fine, was going to fill up in the morning but the truck started missing, i wasn`t sure what was wrong at first but i whipped into a fuel station and fueled up, runs fine now. the gauge had only just touched the orange, (i could usually get home, then fill next day) No way in hell am i getting a whole new sending unit (mine is customized for the walbro pump), i will have to find out the ohm range of it and find one out of a similar vehicle. i have had it out to look at it before and its not dirty, but the resistance range is out of wack.

Anybody got a pump kicking around? I`ll have to shop for one, I know its very easy to just change out the level sender on the body, but they are not available seperatley. :fume:

My '99 was about the same. It'd stay on full for a few days and then you could almost watch it drop after that. Sorry, I can't help ya.

Clancy,

Get a can of TECHRON from the parts store.
Throw that in there and see if it helps.
The sending units, over time, get varnish on them from the gas, and the TECHRON is pretty good at cleaning them up.

Look in auto parts stores and places like wally world. It should be carried somewhere. It's a very good product.
