Common issue that happens on GMT 800/900 trucks

    Parts:
    • Oil Pressure Sensor (GM 12616646, ACDelco D1846A) $25 eBay
    • Oil Pressure Switch Socket, Lisle 13250 (1-1/16"), $10 O'Reilly

This is what the oil pressure gauge shows as soon as you turn the key to the On position:

To diagnose the issue and verify it is the oil pressure sensor and not the stepper motor, first turn off the key then unplug the wire harness running to the sensor at the back of the block:

Turn the key back to the On position, if the needle now reads 0, the you know it's the sensor; if it still goes to 80, then it's your stepper motor.

I read other posts on the net where guys have said you need to remove the manifold, I can assure you, you do not need to do that, just be prepared to get your hand stuck a few times and cut them up really good, unless you have small hands as it's a very tight fit.

Get your Lisle socket, u-joint adapter, and enough 3/8" extensions to reach the sensor, you need to provide some torque to remove the old sensor:

Install in reverse order, don't forget to plug in the wire harness.

Turn the key to the On position, oil pressure should read 0:

Start your truck and the gauge should read around 40 PSI:

This site is for bullshitting and arguing, not for truck-related write-ups. Knock it off. :fume:
