The Mustang had been making noise in the front end so when I took it in for service, I asked them to look at it. They found the drivers side strut was bad and needed replaced. They ordered the parts and I took the car in yesterday. When I got it home I started waxing the front end for this weekends trip and found a couple deep scratches by the valance and damage to the valance. Took it back in this morning to show them and believe it or not, they are going to fix it. The scratches still had chips of paint hanging on them so it was easy to see they just happened. Guy told me they would replace the valance and take it to the body shop to fix and paint the bumper. Wants me to call him next week when we get back in town to schedule it for the repair.

I'm glad they're going to fix it, but come on. Pisses me off they didn't own up to it. If the person who damaged it didn't report it, he/she should be fired. I'm not sure if I'm going to go back to the place after this. I do know I'm going to look it over very closely before driving off the lot from now on.

That plastic so so fragile it's likely that it touched a parking stop or something and the driver never knew.

Good thing they are fixing it anyway.

As long as they were willing to fix it with no arguing I'd be pretty happy with them. Expecting someone making $10/hr to give a shit about their job seems to be asking too much these days.

Co-worker had a similar thing happen to a G6. Dealership had it for a total of 18 days to fix a noise while turning (mechanic road with and heard it once, but then had a hard time replicating it again). He got the car back with a scratch on the top of the fender. The mechanic, who hadn't worked on the car at all and just got married, asked if they wanted if fixed quick or right...needless to say they said right. Dealership fixed it no charge.

To me, if a dealership ever said "no, we're not fixing it free", I'd say F you and find somewhere else.

Glad they're fixing it for you Greg! I just hope it sticks! You can always tell a car that has had plastic parts repainted when it flakes off down the road.
