Debagified my Asus G50VT-X5 laptop tonight. While I was at it I installed my second 320GB hard drive I picked up for it. Before After top Now to the fun part. I installed my second 2.5" seagate 7200rpm 320GB HDD in RAID 0. Striping FTMFW! 600GB of space and 2X the speed. Here's a HDTach benchmark using the smaller file size 8MB. A little lower than the large 32MB file benchmark but it represents more real world application I guess.
I don't know many people who want to crack their macbook open and stripe their drives. I was doing some sisoft sandra benchmarks and my little array is within a few percentages of the quickest solid state drives. These little Seagate 7200rpm momentus drives are crazy.
That stuff has always amazed me, I don't know shit about computers. Just how to start 'em up that's about it. The only drive I've ever striped has been my driveway. I do get a kick out of reading this stuff though, it just reminds me how behind I am.
