custom steering wheel

I have a 1995 Z71 with driver side air bag. I want to install a grant custom steering wheel and just need to know if all I have to do is remove spiral cable from column or do i need to get a column from a 1994 truck. I see lots of trucks that would normally have air bagged equipped steering wheels with custom steering wheels and I'm curious how they do it. Any help is appreciated.

I think you will get a SRS code unless there is a way to "tune" it out. But you should just have to remove the wheel and bolt up the new one

Wheel should bolt right up like a previous year. SRS light might be on in the cluster though...

yes it will. if the light comes on... pull the cluster and unplug that bulb.

Removing an airbag equipped wheel is a crime in some states if I remember correctly....Check with local bylaws first. Gotta hate federally regulated equiptment....

A guy I used to work with had a 99 silverado with a billet steering wheel. He said he had been in a minor wreck and the bag went off. Rather than replace the bag, he just replaced the wheel with a non-airbag billet wheel.
