Very nice! Where did you find such a jewel?
Friend of a friend of a friend is a big deal in the classic car/restoration arena. He did not want to restore this car because it is "too nice", but not nice enough for him to keep because it is a #2 car and he restores cars to #1 Concours level. The last Chevelle he restored he sold for $80k. Didn't make sense for him to restore a #2 car worth $30-40k as he would still put nearly the same effort and money into it as a solid #4 car. So, he sold it as a #2 car. He bought it from his buddy's widow (he died 2 years ago) and put a new top on it (top was white...yuck) and put it back to the proper stance (it was sitting up too high).

Car is a true SS396 Vert, but he does not believe it's the original engine. Said it was last painted in the 80's...which I find hard to believe based on it's condition. There is zero orange peel, so he may be right since it's likely a lacquer based paint. The car shines like new and is laser-straight.

He almost bought this car 20 years ago when his buddy bought it, and he claims he has known this car since the 80's. The guy was not a BS'er, so I have no reason to not believe him. He was very up front and honest about everything.

I am hoping to win some trophies at the local shows.

The paint being in great shape means that it was garage kept. It makes a huge difference on the paint being kept inside. If it is lacquer then keep it out of the sun as much as possible since it will not hold up like todays poly paints.

It is a sharp looking machine. I liked that body style. :)

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
I thought you were asking what you should replace your Vette with. I was going to suggest something of the 60's flavor

This counts
