Compression on Cylinder 6

    2000 ranger xlt regular cab automatic 3.0

    Engine replaced with engine from junkyard. Would get 0 on cylinder 6 for compression. Go drive it for awhile recheck compression get 100. Go drive it again awhile recheck get 0. Any ideas on whats causes this.

    Is this with just a compression gauge or leak down gauge?

    I'd go with sticking valve.

    Can you perform a leak down test? This will confirm if it is a valve or not.

    So how fix a sticky valve if thats what it is.

    Are you loosing power?

    You can try running some ATF or Marvel Mystery oil for 100 miles then do another oil change. If that doesn't work, then you may need to pull the head.

    Not losing power but every once in awhile it spits n studders. But goes away after giving it gas.

    Burnt valve, bent valve.

    The gauge has a check valve, and it holds the highest pressure achieved. Not uncommon to hit a measly 100 psi on a warm engine with a burnt valve.

    Regardless, you need to pull that head
