Throw some suggestions out for Jeff!

Jeff's quote from another thread:

Do you have to run an amp to components? I would think so to get the best out of them right?

I just want components up front and regular speakers in the back. I don't wanna dump a ton of cash into them.

There are things way higher on the list ATM anyways. I am trying to spend very little on it till I pay it off (8 months!)

Not sure what you are running for a HU, but amps help everything! I would certainly suggest it for component speaks, especially if you are running the stock HU. Some of the aftermarket stereos have decent power, and you could get away without adding an amp right now

Running a Kenwood DDX514

I'm not looking to have the most badass sound system out there, & honestly this is more of a proactive thread. My speakers are doing alright but I've blown 2 of the four so far. I'm running a blown speaker in the back and a partially blow one up front (passenger)

So eventually I'll just bite the bullet and replace all of them. I want to do front components and back regular speakers.

Like to keep it all relatively cheap. Honestly don't know a $ to throw on it. I haven't upgraded speakers in quite sometime. I ran Alpine Type S speakers in my Suburban and loved them and the alpine head unit. I ran a pyramid amp to them.....yes Pyramid :D2

MB Quart.

I've run them in several vehicles and never had an issue. Sound quality is excellent.

I've never owned a set, but heard lots of good things about MB Quart. One of my stereo installer buddys swears by them. I knows all he used to put in his own vehicles were MB Quart and JL Audio.
I'm a cheap ass and I've always just used Pioneer 4-way speakers. Best bang for your buck IMO. I have Pioneer 4-way 6.5" speakers in all 4 doors of the Burban. Been in there since 2007 and they still sound great to my ears.

Not bad at all. Their component stuff sounds really good. One note of caution though... If you are somebody that drives speakers to within an inch of their life, they may not hold up. Accurate speakers won't take lots of distortion. You can play em loud... just not overdriven.

At ultra high volume, most amps are horribly distorted.

Nah I usually listen to my music around 17-23 out of 40. So I wouldn't say that I drive them too hard.

Thanks for the heads up though

I added a MB Quart 6.5" Component (2), 6.5" coaxial, and a 1000RWS MB Quart 4 chan amp for $349 shipped on Amazon.

I listen to mine pretty loud and never have hurt one. Some people think they have to have the volume on 300 all the time. They can kill any speaker.
