Don't buy anything from Sonicelectronix.com

I bought a brand new pioneer sub with enclosure, installed it and it blew right away. This was a 800watt max sub, 200 rms and I installed it with a 600 watt amp. The amp wasn't even turned up half way and I started playing Flordia Georgia lines song "Cruise." Obviously this song isn't a bass pounding song.

So I called Sonic and they will do nothing for me except give me a $20.00 discount on a new sub. Guy was a prick that I talked to. So now I sit with a $120.00 subwoofer that I never got to use.

My Rant is over. :chipper:

That sucks.

I have spent quite a bit with them, actually. It has been 3 years since my last purchase, though.

I never had to return anything, either, so I guess I was lucky.

Sounds like a defective sub to me. Sucks that Pioneer can't do anything... but that's one of the pitfalls of buying gray marketed stuff.

Yeah, I tried to be nice and explain what happened to the customer service rep, but it got ugly quick when he kept telling me it was all my fault.

Nope they won't do anything because sonic isn't an authorized dealer.

I've been burned by this before.

I have purchased a good bit of hardware and speaker components from sonicelectronics.com, but no amps or of the sort. I never had a problem, but I will be more aware of purchasing further thru them. I did plan to use them for a future amp purchase.

As for the blowing a sub, its just not power that can ruin one. Distortion or clipping can end ones life span pretty quickly. Was the sub and amp setting set correctly? What model sub and enclosure did you have?
