I, like many other GMT-800 trucks, have started to accumulate some crud inside my Chevy emblem on the grille. Ya think a billet bowtie would look good with the dual (fake) chrome bars the 06s have? I've toyed with the idea of popping it off and painting it black or red too. I'm not sure which. Anyone have any experience with the billet grille emblems?

I think the billet would look fine although I still contend you need the painted bumper cap to pull off the entire look. Give us a nice shot of the grill from the front! Maybe someone will be kind enough Photoshop it for you so you can evaluate before you buy...

I've looked into getting the black parts painted red and all the paint shops say it wouldn't really be worthwhile. None of them act like they can prep it well enough to get the paint to stick real well since it is that textured black plastic like the flares.
Maybe I could do black powder coated or just a regular polished billet?
Here is a pic from about a week after I bought it, IIRC. I've since removed all those stickers on the windshield and lost the front valence. At some point, I wouldn't mind mounting some offroad lights behind the grill, or maybe on a bullbar.

are those replaceable cheaply? If so buy a second set, try sanding them down flat, priming with a adhesive promoting primer, paint and clear coat...if you wanted to do that with them
It's one piece with the grill and all. I was going to try that, but it's cost prohibitive to 'just try it out' since it's all one piece.

Here are a couple of quick 'shops.
The color is a little off and the texture is still there on the cap and grill but it should be enough to get the point across. F the lazy paint shops. There are plenty of guys who can paint plastic. It just needs smoothed down and primed well.
While we are talking, the mirrors and handles would look sweet red too, IMO, but I didn't take the time to dick with those.

I really like that, and I knew I would. I'd love to color match everything. The red bowtie would look great with a billet grill, which is something I'd also be interested in. Colormatching it all would pricey though, I reckon. You know of any decent paintshops around here that could maybe do it?
