Hey people, im new to the programmer world so I wanted to ask for your help.
I picked up a Hypertech Power Programmer III and I was wondering what you recommend for setting the rev limiter, shift points and shift firmness.

I got the programmer to lose the poor throttle response and increase my mileage. Naturally id like to have the best of both worlds and get better fuel economy and good performance, but I think I may be asking too much.

I did it tonight with the basic settings (tire size, gears, fuel octane), I liked what I got, but I cant help but think ill get more if I change the above settings too.

Only performance mods are: K&N intake, flowmaster 3" exhaust

I would just play with it, i had a superchips and a hypertech before and i made little adjustments here and there and ended up abit different from what they have preset. typicaly i set the trans pressure abit lower than what they had it preset to, and i always bump the speed limiter, and rev limiter, just in case. :D2

now i found with my superchips and definatley with my wester custom tune that running thier 93 octane tune and filliing up with premium netted better economy overall. the cost to fill compared to mileage made was the same or better most times. (except when horseing around.)

it is important to get your tire size and gear ratio correct for the unit to put in the proper tune settings.

did that tuner come with an update cable? go to their website and see if there are any updates or extra downlowadable programs. i had a superchips unit for my 05 powerstroke and they offered an "XS Mileage" tune that gave even better fuel economy, seems they do some more R&D after the product was introduced and pass on the technology to the customer to use afterwards.

x2, that's the key. The stuff you want to adjust is mostly personal preference, with some people liking the smooth-shifting feel of stock and some liking a firmer shift. They really won't do much at all in terms of gas mileage. It's not too much asking for increased performance and mileage, though. I've switched back to my Gryphon's 87 tow tune, which I got for the increased mileage. It is leaps and bounds over stock performance. Just make small adjustments at a time so as not to screw anything up and you'll find the sweet spot.

Thats the hard part is that i have no idea what adjustments to make, how far up or down is too far. Not even sure what any of it means, I feel kinda dumb but I just do know what adjustments to make here.
I was hoping the programmer had some canned tunes like the Edge (towing, performance yada yada)
