Battery is less than four months old but I just went out and checked it with my meter to be sure. Checks fine. Also checked the alternator output while I was there and it is also good. I have never had the truck reprogrammed. I try to stay out of the dealerships if you know what I mean.....Thanks for your input

Is the switch possibly bad? Maybe pull the switch and use the voltmeter and check continuity on it in different positions.

I asked a friend of mine for assistance. All he can give me is if the fuse is good, beeping speaker works, its a sensor.

If your "off" light is on continuously on is a fault code stored in the PAM (Park Aid Module). The Ford IDS can read faults in the PAM and run a self test.

Looks like a trip to the dealer is necessary. :(

Found this doing a search

You have to be careful but start the truck and put it in reverse. While someone keeps the truck still place your finger over the sensor, actually touching it. You can feel a slight snap in your finger. The one that does not snap is the bad sensor. I confirmed it with a Ford test computer.

The system defaults to "Off" if it senses a problem with a system component, including the sensors, wiring, and little speaker in the rear trim panel... 95% of the time it's a single, failed bumper sensor.

A good Scan Tool, SPX, Snap On, will be able to access the reverse sensor module and run a self test. If if is a sensor it will tell you which one it is. Had the same issue with my 01 and I used a SPX Genisys. It told me exactly which one of my sensors was bad. Replaced it and all good now.

Theres a bad sensor. I went thru this issue last fall with my '06 and got the sensors replaced one or two at a time. One was replaced twice because it was bad again (warranteed).

$140 each and the dealer was the only place that could scan the system for codes/errors.

I started out by cleaning the contacts and that didnt help and one came apart while cleaning them so I thought that was the issue but it didnt fix the problem so I took it to the dealer and they replaced two more sensors and it worked fine for a month.

At first I had the issue with it staying off. Then a month or so later it made noise whenever I put the truck in reverse.

It was aggravating and expensive to fix and I had it at the dealer about 4 times. A few times they told me it worked and it wouldnt beep in their parking lot (while I was driving it) but it would beep instantly at the shopping center next door which I though was strange.

I ended up putting over $1k into the system once it was all done.

waaalaaaahhhhhh!!!!!! Your insight was right on. I did your test with my wife behind the wheel and 1 sensor had no response. Just for giggles I swapped that sensor with another one just to see if it was in the connector. It was not. The problem followed the sensor. Thank you so very much for your help. Without guys like you in these forums alot of people would be up !@#$ creek without a paddle. Be safe and keep it on four wheels
