These are my American Racing Predators in chrome. I clean them almost every week, and they never see winter weather. I just noticed this yesterday, and it has to be up very close. My g/f has a Nikon D-700 and we used that to take these photos. These "spots" show up a lot easier in the photos than in person. I tried some Mothers Chrome Polish and it didnt do anything for them. I dont know if it is pitting or something else. You cannot feel these "spots" either.

Thanks!

Do they ever see mud or are they ever around anyplace that might see over-spray of any type of chemical?

How many wheels is this happening to?

Looks like pitting in the chrome under the clear coat on the wheel.

Or could be from a corrosive spray, something from the roads that has discoloured the chrome.

Do you use a spray on wheel cleaner?

As far as mud, no. Over spray of chemical is possible because I work in the countertop business, but where I park us up against building and not near a door, however dumpster is 30ish yards away. And there is a lot of dust. I tried clay also but no luck.

EDIT: All 4 wheels

I never did until mid summer. I use Meguiars Chrome wheel cleaner. I follow the instructions on the bottle. :dunno: I spray it on a cool, wet, wheel, and then use a wash mitt with car wash on it and gently wash them.

I have this all over my wheels too. You can only notice it when you're an inch away. :dunno:
