I've been searching around for threads and stuff of how to's, but if anybody could post links or share information that'd be great..

so far I'm reading this thread here

    http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums...s/165526-amplifier-gain-setting-tutorial.html

Is that pretty accurate? Anyone know? Thanks..

and if we get someone who knows their shiz, maybe they can start a new thread and we can get it stickied or something, just an idea.

Your supposed to do it with an oscilscope(I think that's how its spelled) but I've never used one and don't know how to use it.

But I've been a member on caraudio.com for quite awhile and have found out that. Its fairly simple to do without one

    1. Crank up the volume
2.Play with the gain knob until you don't hear any distortion
    3. Now jam out!

Yeah, that is the mathematical correct way to do it, I would say if you dont do that, do the old fail safe of 1/2 gain on your amp, or turn the your system on to the volume you would listen too, and then adjust the gain until you hear a little distortion, and then turn it down a little. That is what I have done for 12 years I have been doing it.

Overdriving the amp will just result in square wave output that will fry any sub you try to run. Trying to get 110% out of an amp leads to most failures.
