Looking into getting some aftermarket parts for my 2008 GMC Sierra 5.3L 4 wheel-drive truck. Thinking about getting an edge evolution programmer, volant power core air intake and a throttle body spacer. Has anyone with my same truck tried these products, if so did they help? Also, if anyone else has some advice on these products (do's and dont's) please let me know before i screw something up. Just looking to get some more power and maybe even a little better MPG, even though I'll probably have a heavy foot at first. Thanks, jneal
Welcome aboard! Check out Black Bear for a tune! They have a huge and loyal following for a good reason. You can PM Member jennabear here if you have questions plus here is a link ti their site: http://www.blackbearperformance.com/ You'll notice a drop in MPG at first with a tune just because it will be so much more fun to drive! Overall though, I think most folks see no drop long term. Some even report a bit of an increase (which is cool).
Don'ts Edge Programmer Throttle body spacer Do's Custom tune from Black Bear Performance Volant or any other CAI Exhaust that you like the sound of Post pics of your truck, because we are picture whores Create a welcome thread That about covers it
Airaid MIT + Drop-in filter = CAI at 1/3 the price! Lots of us run this setup. As for the Edge, no. Black Bear or nothing! Night and day difference there!
Yes, a lot of guys swear by Blackbear here and if I got a custom tune, that's who I would have do it. But right now I have the Diablo Predator right now. Best handheld programmer out there IMO. Allows to you change lots of parameters that others don't allow you to such as disable the AFM. The only downfall to handhelds is they don't let you remove torque management which makes the biggest difference in tunes. Diablo claims they are working on it, but they've said that for years now.
