Alright i've got another question on my engine so here it is..
What is all involved in shopping for a 6.0 cam to take the place of my stock Gen III 5.3L. And as far as installation goes, what other things do i need to sucessfully complete the job and start it up. Sorry about wanting to be spoon fed but i've seriously looked everywhere online and i dont guess im getting the grasp of it.

I could help you on carbed motors but I have let the technology pass me up, I would be of no help with these newer engines. I can twist the hell out of a wrench but I don't know what fits what anymore.

You will need a cam, and valve springs that will handle the lift and ramp-rate of the new cam. Stiffer pushrods are also highly recommended as long as you've got everything apart.

You will need water pump gaskets, a new timing cover gasket, the seal that goes around the harmonic balancer, and a new harmonic balancer bolt.

You'll also need a few tools, all of which are listed here.

This is another good link for general cam info.

As far as picking a cam, all I can say is search on a site like performancetrucks.net or ls1truck.com, see what people with setups similar to what you want are running. PM people, etc.

There's also a guy, Patrick Guerra who will spec a cam for your specific truck/engine combo and your goals for $25. That's the route I went.

I might as well ask, what setup do you want to run, and what will you be doing with the truck?

That would be $25 well spent. Especially since he has an association with Comp Cams.

The nice thing about it, is that he doesn't have his subconscious wanting the biggest cam possible. If I were deciding for myself, I probably would've ended up with a bigger cam. Which, would've been fine at the track, but that's SUCH a small percentage of my driving.

+1. Pat G is the MAN when it comes to LS cams. He wants trucks to have TQ. He works (or worked) for Thunder Racing and spec'd all of their cams, and I think was the first to hit 500rwhp in a naturally aspirated stock displacement LS1. $25 would be well worth it.

Well right now im doing about 305hp stock with 40 series flowmasters, and programmed. Before i do an engine swap i would like to see what i could get out of this engine. Without forced air induction i would like to see atleast 340-350 hp.
