It's a shame they didn't just do the cam and then dyno it. I would have loved to see the numbers they got.

I would be very interested in doing this upgrade (minus the intake) to my truck. I want a bit more power...but not enough that I have to worry about building the engine/trans.

Anybody want to hazard a guess as to what just the cam would do to the power numbers?

I would say an easy 15-20rwhp with a fairly mild cam. But you should add all the bolt-ons and supporting mods first.

I'm a huge Gen 1 SBC fan but without a doubt if I was starting fresh with an engine build it would be an LS based motor. The power potential is just awesome.
I agree that the power gains are amazing, but I like my torque developed down low, not at 5k rpm.

I'd be very interested in swapping to an LS motor if the torque could be developed around 2500 to 3000.

Can't wait until they release the second issue with the S/C on it!

Actually, the heads and cam would be just perfect for me. Cam for sure as it's so cheap ($350.00). I don't want to make so much power that I have to worry about the transmission...at least not right away.

You can build a very torquey motor if you want. You can bring the powerband down lower with a custom ground cam.

Honestly, I think dont you'd tell the difference. Stock for stock, torque up high or down low, the LS would beat the balls off the 350.

Z71_Silvy: I'd agree with Carl. You need bolt-ons first. You also need to call your tuner and let them pull more timing out of that tune, I'm sure its just their "basic" tune which is boring. I"ve seen all these "custom" tune logs that all these people put out...there is a LOT more you could get for your money. Hard to do when you only get 1 hour with the tuner. Correct tuning takes HOURS, even on a stockish truck, to get the most out of it. You'd be surprised what e-fans, LT headers, 3" duals, an agressive tune and a few other things did to my truck. A wideband would be nice too.
