For those of you that are drag racing 4x4's, when you launch in 4x4, do you shift to 2x4 after you get rolling? I just kind of thought 4x4 would hurt your top end. Does it make much of a difference?
Some.. But not much... I know some high powered Dodge diesels with the floor shift t-case bang themselves into 2x4 when you're getting rank with them... But that's usually 700+ hp on a stock t-case... You will loose some top end staying in 4 for the whole run... Some trucks are ok shifting out of 4 under load, and some aren't. But generally what you pick up off the line makes up for what you lose in the top end
Cool, thanks.. I have the push button transfer case so I would just have to touch the button after I get going... Not sure if it will come out of 4x4 until I lift though...I'll have to try it once I get it running.
