4WD does not fully disengage

I have a rapping sound after trying to disengage 4WD - '93 K1500. The sound is toward the front end of the truck. The actuator is new(ish). I skipped it last year; it is good weather now, this year. What is the problem?

Was it working after you first installed the newish actuator?

Yes. It was a new thermal type at the time.

If "newish" is the meaning of used, then my guess is that actuator has failed again.

Any knowledge of why there is this rapping/knocking and partial disengagement?
