Shanin has volunteered to make the TMC picks happen again for 2012!

Thank you Shanin.

TMC NASCAR PICKS ARE BACK!

This season's PICK participants are going to be awarded points the same way we did it last year (based on the NASCAR simplified points system). Simply put, this means 43 points for number one finish and 1 point for a 43rd place finish. There will be no separate CHASE points system. You will use the same system from race one until the last race.

HOW THE WEEKLY PICKS WILL WORK.

PICKS:

  • Each week the top 43 drivers in NASCAR points will be divided into 6 groups and posted in a pick thread (For Daytona, the top 43 drivers from last year will be used).
  • The pick thread will not be based on qualifying this year in order to post it earlier in the week (read the next two points closely).
  • Each week, this thread MAY contain drivers who are not in the next race (or not contain drivers that are)
  • It is up to you to determine who is in and who is not and make your picks accordingly.
  • You will pick one driver from each of the six groups just like you did last year.
  • These picks become your drivers for the week.
  • It is IMPORTANT that you make the effort to get your picks in each week.

NOTICE:
If you pick more than one driver in a group, you will not receive ANY points for that group, regardless of how your picks finish.

Pick carefully.

POINTS:

  • Everybody starts the season with 1000 points.
  • Additional points will be awarded based on the finishing order of your picks (see chart below).
  • Scoring is not influenced by any point penalties or fines NASCAR hands down to any driver.
  • If you pick the first place finisher, you will receive 10 bonus points on top of their awarded points (43+10).
  • Your weekly points will be calculated once NASCAR posts their Official finishing order for the race (typically on Monday afternoon).
  • Your points will then be added up and the pick leader board will be updated.
  • There are no mulligans this year.
FINISHING ORDER & POINTS SCALE

This scale represents the points that will be awarded each week based on the finishing order of your picks. Hopefully this will help keep the points race competitive and close for a larger number of pickers.

  • 01 = 43
  • 02 = 42
  • 03 = 41
  • 04 = 40
  • 05 = 39
  • 06 = 38
  • 07 = 37
  • 08 = 36
  • 09 = 35
  • 10 = 34
  • 11 = 33
  • 12 = 32
  • 13 = 31
  • 14 = 30
  • 15 = 29
  • 16 = 28
  • 17 = 27
  • 18 = 26
  • 19 = 25
  • 20 = 24
  • 21 = 23
  • 22 = 22
  • 23 = 21
  • 24 = 20
  • 25 = 19
  • 26 = 18
  • 27 = 17
  • 28 = 16
  • 29 = 15
  • 30 = 14
  • 31 = 13
  • 32 = 12
  • 33 = 11
  • 34 = 10
  • 35 = 09
  • 36 = 08
  • 37 = 07
  • 38 = 06
  • 39 = 05
  • 40 = 04
  • 41 = 03
  • 42 = 02
  • 43 = 01
This should make for a competitive and fun season for all of us without killing the scorekeeper in the process.

I don't remember how we picked the 500 last year.. Did we base it on the Season Total Points finish from the previous year or the Homestead Race's finishing order? :dunno:

Thanks!

For the Daytona 500, the top 43 drivers from last year, in the order they finished the 2011 season (not the finishing order from the last race of the 2011 season).

:D
